Truck enthusiasts have been awaiting larger Chevrolet trucks for some time now, and it looks like 2018 will be the year their dreams come true. The 2019 Chevrolet 4500HD and 5500HD are scheduled to hit the market in late 2018. Before that, both trucks will make their world debut in Indianapolis at The Work Truck Show 2018 in March.
Chevrolet hasn’t released the technical specifications just yet. Instead, the automaker will make the specifications public at the same time the trucks make their official debut.
“The Silverado 4500HD/5500HD trucks are the flagship of our full-line commercial truck portfolio and we’ve designed them to be among the best in the industry in maneuverability, serviceability, visibility, quietness and comfort, diesel fuel economy, and more,” said Ed Peper, US vice president of General Motors Fleet.
What we at Graff Chevrolet know about the returning Chevrolet Silverado 4500HD and 5500HD is that they’ll be chassis cab trucks available in regular and crew cab styles. Drivers will have their choice between two- and four-wheel drive capabilities and numerous GVWRs and wheelbases.
Perhaps most importantly, the Chevrolet Silverado 4500HD and 5500HD will feature Duramax® diesel engines with Allison® transmissions. The Silverado 3500HD’s Duramax® 6.6-liter Turbo-Diesel V8 engine pumps out 910 lb-ft of torque and delivers a maximum towing capacity of 23,300 pounds when properly equipped. Enthusiasts wouldn’t be disappointed expecting even more power from its upcoming siblings.
