You don’t often get to hear “convertible” and “640 horsepower” in the same sentence, but the new 2017 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Convertible that launched last month at the New York Auto Show makes it possible.
The Camaro ZL1 Convertible packs 640 horsepower and 640 lb-ft of torque, allowing drivers to win drag races against some of the country’s top muscle cars, while simultaneously making it possible for them to enjoy a relaxing cruise on their favorite roads with the top down.
The best part is that compared to the coupe, customers aren’t missing out on much. The aggressive “flow-tie” grille and heat extractor in the hood are still there, as is the choice between a new 10-speed automatic and a 6-speed automatic. The one difference of note is the minor increase in weight added by the convertible system, which should only slightly affect performance.
It goes on sale late this year. See you then at Graff Chevrolet!
