For the 2019 Silverado 1500, Chevrolet has given the pickup bed a special name — Durabed. This features a number of upgrades that put the Silverado in a class of its own.
For starters, the new Durabed on the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 boasts 12 fixed tie-downs, each of which can handle 500 pounds of force for a grand total of 6,000 pounds. The revised pickup bed also comes standard with the CornerStep bumper design for easy bed entry. Other features include a 110/120-volt power outlet, in-bed LED lighting, and four tailgate variants, including an option to raise and lower the tailgate via the key fob.
However, what Chevrolet is rightly touting most about the new Durabed is the cargo volume. The total box space for the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 depends on the configuration:
- Short Box models boast 63 cubic feet, a 10-foot improvement over the 2018 model, 10 feet more than the 2019 Ford F-Series, and 9 feet more than the 2019 Ram 1500.
- Standard Box models boast 72 cubic feet, a 10-foot improvement over the 2018 model, 10 feet more than the 2019 Ford F-Series, and 10 feet more than the 2019 Ram 1500.
- Long box models boast 89 cubic feet, a 14-foot improvement over the 2018 model and 12 feet more than the 2019 Ford F-Series.
