If you thought the legendary Chevrolet Silverado couldn’t get any better, think again. In celebration of 100 years of Chevrolet trucks, the brand rolled out the next-generation of Silverado 1500 pickup earlier this year at the Detroit Auto Show. The 2019 Chevrolet Silverado is bigger, bolder, smarter, and stronger than ever before.
The 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 unveiled at NAIAS marks the first major update to the brand’s flagship pickup since 2016, and drivers everywhere will be excited to know the updates are impressive. The newest Silverado features a freshly redesigned exterior with boldly sculpted body lines, a wheelbase that’s 3.9 inches longer than the current model, and 1.6 inches in additional overall length. This added size translates into bigger cargo beds and more spacious interiors.
In spite of its increased size, the 2019 Silverado will be 450 pounds lighter than the current model. This is possible because of the use of high-strength mixed materials in production, including special high-strength steel in the body and frame.
Available in eight different models, the 2019 Silverado will feature six engine and transmission combinations, including the all-new Duramax inline six-cylinder diesel coupled to a new Hyrdra-Matic 10-speed automatic transmission.
