Some automakers think “American-Made” is just a catchy slogan. Chevrolet thinks it’s a philosophy. That’s why three of their models topped the Cars.com list of “most American” vehicles in the 2019 American-Made Index. These models are the Corvette, Colorado and Camaro. Each model is manufactured at different plants around the country.
Besides apple pie and an afternoon at the ballpark, we struggle to think of anything more American than the steady purr of this all-American pony car. The Chevy Corvette is born and raised in Bowling Green, Kentucky, and has been an icon of the U.S. automotive pantheon for generations.
Like its sleek relative the Corvette, the Chevy Camaro is a rip-roaring performance vehicle engineered to put out all the force of a splendorous Fourth of July fireworks show. The Camaro is created in the city of Lansing, Michigan, right in the heartland of American automaking.
As American as the great state it was named for, the Chevy Colorado pickup is one of the most popular truck models available today. That means a lot of good work for those hometown operators at the Chevy plant in Wentzville, Missouri. The Colorado also boasts a Rocky Mountain-sized available towing capacity of 7,700 pounds when properly equipped, earning it the title of best-in-class.
